Alzheimer’s care offered by our team will ensure that your loved one is well cared for while you are away and that they have something to look forward to throughout the day. One of the ways we offer Alzheimer’s care to patients is through helping to boost their memory and brain functions. Family activities can also help your loved one if they have developed a form of dementia. They can give them the benefit of cognitive exercises in a fun and meaningful way.
If you are looking for some family activities for your loved one who receives Alzheimer’s care, talk to us today. Some of the activities we like to recommend include:
Playing Music or Sing-a-Longs
Your loved one will enjoy an afternoon of music, especially when someone plays an instrument to them or when they can chime in and sing a tune. You should try to pick songs that your loved one will enjoy from nursery rhymes to fun songs such as “Jingle Bells.” If you are unsure of what type of songs to choose, ask your loved one’s care specialist, as they can provide you with some ideas.
Watch Family Movies
If you have any family movies on hand, don’t be afraid to have a day where you sit down and enjoy lunch or dinner and reminisce. Your loved one will enjoy the opportunity and seeing the video may bring back some old memories that they do have.
Painting is a wonderful way to soothe the mind and allow for self-expression as well. Your loved one will enjoy either painting together with you in their home or the two of you can head out and attend a painting class together in an art studio.
